Data from the Maine Secretary of State's Office demonstrates that voter registration in the state is at an all-time high, with Democrats accounting for the largest increase. Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap says he expects a large turnout for November's election.

Maine's annual moose hunt is returning to the far northern part of the state for the last time this year. The moose hunt is broken up into four sessions in different parts of the state. A portion of the hunt that is centered in the far north begins on Monday and ends on Saturday.

Sunday River will be without one of its lifts this winter. The ski resort notified season pass holders that the Spruce Peak Triple that failed over the summer won't be replaced in time for the upcoming season.

A national big money campaign to expand background checks is revealing tensions among hunters and law enforcement in Maine about just how far the government should go to keep firearms from falling into the wrong hands. It's on track to be one of Maine's most costly ballot campaigns ever, with both sides touting their grassroots credentials and decrying the influence of Michael Bloomberg and the NRA. Critics say the law makes criminals of ordinary Mainers by targeting transfers.

At least 13 people are dead after a tour bus rear-ended a semi-truck on a Southern California highway. A California Highway Patrol spokesman says the horrific crash, north of Palm Springs, injured 31 others. He says the USA Holiday tour bus was returning to Los Angeles early Sunday after a visit to the Red Earth Casino in Thermal, California. It's unknown if alcohol, drugs or fatigue played a role in the accident.

The search is on for a woman who authorities say shot three people in Miami. According to police, the three victims were walking near a park Saturday night when they were stopped by a car. A female passenger allegedly got out with a gun and demanded their belongings. Police say the victims complied, but that the suspect still fired several shots. One of the victims is a 12-year-old boy who is hospitalized in critical condition.

Newly confident and buoyant in the polls, Hillary Clinton is looking past Donald Trump and widening her mission to include helping Democrats seize the Senate and chip away at the GOP-controlled House. Robby Mook, Clinton's campaign manager, says "We're running a coordinated campaign, working hard with gubernatorial, Senate and House candidates." Clinton campaigned for lawmakers in North Carolina on Sunday.

Despite recent polling that favors Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump's campaign insists it's premature to count him out. Speaking at a rally in Naples, Florida, on Sunday, Trump said he believes polls showing him struggling among women are "very inaccurate." He even said he believes he's doing better among female voters than with male voters. Trump said he wants to "set records" with his support from women.

Bill Murray is getting the sort of attention he doesn't usually seek. He's been honored with the nation's top prize for humor. The actor received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday night at the Kennedy Center in Washington. David Letterman, Emma Stone and Sigourney Weaver were among those on hand to celebrate his career. Murray got his big break on "Saturday Night Live."

Monday is the first day of a mass evacuation and destruction of a migrant camp in the French port city of Calais. The first of hundreds of buses are arriving to begin transferring migrants to reception centers around France, where they can apply for asylum. Authorities say the camp holds nearly 6,500 migrants who are trying to get to Britain.
