Olympian Julia Clukey will officially announce her retirement from the sport of luge. Last November, Clukey had announced a goal to compete in the 2018 Olympics, but recent concerns from her doctors about her future health have prompted the decision.

Sen. Susan Collins, one of the most moderate Republicans in the Senate, says she will not be voting for Donald Trump for president. "This is not a decision I make lightly, for I am a lifelong Republican," Collins wrote in an op-ed column in The Washington Post. "But Donald Trump does not reflect historical Republican values nor the inclusive approach to governing that is critical to healing the divisions in our country."

Gas prices are still on their way down. GasBuddy says the average price per gallon in Maine has fallen 1.7 cents to $2.15. The national average of $2.15 has fallen 1.7 cents during the last week and stands 47.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The Belgrade Historical Society is moving forward with plans to renovate the 1815 building that served as Belgrade's annual town meeting site until 1873. The Kennebec Journal reports the historical society is seeking to make cosmetic improvements to the Old Townhouse and add a basement so the building can be used as their headquarters.

Gov. Paul LePage and powerful environmental lobbyists are among those weighing in on the future of a Maine policy that gives bill credits to solar system owners for the retail value of the excess energy they feed back into the grid. LePage calls the nearly 30-year-old law a "reverse Robin Hood program." Solar advocates say he's ignoring a study suggesting that solar energy reduces everyone's electricity rates.

State police say a driver whose car collided with a paving roller on the Maine Turnpike has died. Police say 89-year-old Henry Roy of Lewiston died shortly after arriving at Central Maine Medical Center. Police say he struck a construction barrel before colliding with the roller.

Dry conditions resulting from a drought in southern Maine have been both beneficial and harmful for farmers' crops. Farmers tell The Portland Press Herald crops are coming in sooner because of warm temperatures, but they've struggled to keep up with irrigation and worry about when thunderstorms will come.

A day after a computer outage resulted in the cancellation or delay of more than 3,300 Delta flights, the airline will try to get travelers to their destinations on Tuesday. It'll be a challenge to find enough seats on planes during the busy summer vacation season to accommodate the tens of thousands of passengers whose flights were scrubbed. Delta will also be handing out refunds and travel vouchers in hopes of making it up to some customers.

Police in Kansas City, Kansas, say the 10-year-old boy who was killed Sunday while riding the world's tallest water slide died of a neck injury. Police say Caleb Schwab was one of three passengers riding in a boat on the Verruckt water slide at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. Emergency responders arrived to find the boy dead in a pool at the end of the ride. Police say two women in the boat sustained minor facial injuries.

Police in Greeneville, Tennessee, say that three young people who fell from a Ferris wheel at a county fairground have been taken to the hospital, but were responsive at the scene. The oldest of three who fell 30 to 45 feet is a 16-year-old girl. A detective tells The Greeneville Sun that officers have been interviewing witnesses to determine what happened Monday night.
