Students Plan Walk-Out To Protest Gun Violence On March 14th…But Wait!!!
Students, across the country, are planning to walk out of school for 17 minutes on March 14th. The walk-out is to protest gun violence and to have their voices heard. I'm all for students experiencing some form of protest, in an organized fashion. But, something about this particular one has me scratchin' my head out of curiosity.
That's a lot of kids. What student wouldn't take the opportunity to ditch class for 17 minutes? My question is...
HOW MANY OF THESE STUDENTS WALKING OUT, TO HAVE THEIR VOICES HEARD, WOULD ACTUALLY STAND UP TO A BULLY TERRORIZING ANOTHER STUDENT?
Sadly, there seems to be an alarmingly large number of kids committing suicide...and are even 'shooting up a school' as the result of chronic, constant bullying. In these circumstances, nobody stood up to the bully and helped protect the victim.
I'M NOT SAYING ALL SCHOOL SHOOTINGS ARE THE RESULT OF BULLYING...BUT I'M SURE IT FITS IN THERE SOMEWHERE.
So, are the kids walking out for the true meaning of the protest...or to just be a part of the 'crowd'?
My message to the students walking out on March 14th:
LET'S END BULLYING! BE NICE TO YOUR CLASSMATES! HELP WHEN YOU CAN HELP! BE A FRIEND WHEN YOU CAN BE A FRIEND! MAKE SOMEONE FEEL IMPORTANT TODAY...AND EVERYDAY!
