Stratton Woman Charged with Burning 4-Year Old Daughter

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department says Jessica LaPlante of Stratton has been charged with assault. The 39-year old is accused of burning her 4-year old daughter.

The girls father filed a complaint with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services claiming LaPlante burned the little girl with a wood-engraving tool as punishment for "being bad!"

The girl was treated and released from a hospital and the mother is being held without bail at the Franklin County Jail.
