A report by an animal control officer says the dog that attacked and killed a 7-year-old Maine boy earlier this month had attacked its previous owner's other dog on several occasions.

The report, obtained by the Morning Sentinel through a public records request, states that the pit bull attacked the throat of Hunter Bragg of Bangor, who died at the scene of the mauling in Corinna, Maine, on June 4.

The report states the boy was in the yard with the chained dog at the time of the attack. The boy was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m. at the home of Gary Merchant, where the boy was visiting with his father.

The dog has since been euthanized.

The newspaper reports that Merchant did not return a call seeking comment. (AP)
