Every February 2 there is a party in Punxsutawney, PA  for Ground Hog Day!  This Friday will be no different.   This is one of those events I don't want to go to...ever!  I think I would be so disappointed and it always looks so cold. But here is the deal...

Punxsutawney Phil will for the 132 time come out of his stump on Gobbler's Knob   prognostication on Friday!

From the history page at Groundhog.org"
"Groundhog Day, February 2nd, is a popular tradition in the United States. It is also a legend that traverses centuries, its origins clouded in the mists of time with ethnic cultures and animals awakening on specific dates. Myths such as this tie our present to the distant past when nature did, indeed, influence our lives. It is the day that the Groundhog comes out of his hole after a long winter sleep to look for his shadow.

If he sees it, he regards it as an omen of six more weeks of bad weather and returns to his hole.

If the day is cloudy and, hence, shadowless, he takes it as a sign of spring and stays above ground."

Phil is the original ground hog from 1887! They CLAIM Punxsutawney Phil gets his longevity from drinking "groundhog punch", it's a secret recipe.  ALLRIGHTY THEN,I want some of that!

Hey, we are in Maine, it is a sure bet that we will see six more weeks of bad weather no matter what!

Phil all hooked up, he has an Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and of course a web page Groundhog.org.

They will have a live feed Friday morning.  You will be able to find it here!

What Ground Hog Day celebration is complete without a viewing of Ground Hog Day, the 1993 classic with Bill Murray? You can watch it online...but not on Hulu or Netflix streaming (only on DVD)...but you can find it on YouTube, Amazon Video, Vudu, Google Play and iTunes, according to a quick search.
