The State Fire Marshal’s Office said the victim who died when fire swept his Livermore Falls home Tuesday night (June 13) is believed to be Peter Dyer, 66.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, the State Medical Examiner’s Office is completing additional testing to establish a positive ID.

McCausland said Dyer was the renter of the house and lived there with other relatives. The body was found in the first floor living room, according to McCausland. Fire Marshals said the fire started in that room and spread quickly to the rest of the house.

Two young brothers, ages 13 and 11, had to jump from an upper story window to escape the flames, McCausland said. Fire Marshals said the cause of the fire is undermined because of the extensive damage to the building.
