Maine's new potato has been named the Caribou Russet and they can now be found in Hannaford stores throughout New England.

Developed by the University of Maine, Caribou Russet is a multi purpose, russet skinned variety and supposedly has the best classic baked potato flavor and it's also excellent for mashing. They're a cross between Silverton Russet and Reeves Kingpin potatoes.

The Maine Potato Board says the state’s russet acreage has increased by more than 30 percent since the release of the new potato in part because of growing demand.
