Following a day of heavy rain, the Maine Women's Amateur and Maine Open golf tournaments resume today, both in a shorter format.Two-time defending women;s amateur champ Emily Bouchard shot an even par 73 at the Waterville Country Club which now only serves as a practice round. More than half the field was on the course when it became unplayable. None of the scores will carry over as the tourney starts from scratch today and will be reduced to a two day event.

The same is true for the pros playing at the Maine Open in Augusta. That tourney was scheduled for two rounds but will now be a one day 18 hole championship. Like the women's tourney, some players had concluded their rounds which will be wiped clean as the field starts over today. Greater Bangor Open runner-up Mike Van Sickle who broke the Bangor Muni course record last week was on the 18th fairway when play was stopped. Van Sickle had a score of 59 at that point and was in position to break the Augusta course record when play was suspended.
