Imagine the music he would have created had it not been for David Chapman's senseless murder of John Lennon outside his Dakota apartment building in New York City on December 8, 1980.

According to the New York Daily News, Chapman has been denied parole for a ninth time.

Mark David Chapman met with a three-member parole panel during the week and was later informed he will be kept behind bars at least another two years, when he will be next eligible for parole, a state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision official told the Daily News.

The Lennon assassination is one of the moments in history, that most people remember where they were when they heard the news. Like many, I heard the news from Howard Cosell watching Monday Night football as the Patriots played the Dolphins.

What had turned into a happy Monday night football gathering at my house watching the Patriots, turned into shock, as we looked at each other, some with tears in their eyes, others unable to speak. It's a night I will never forget.
