According to a report from the Bangor Daily News, Gov. Paul LePage backed out of an appearance at the 104th birthday party for noted Husson University alumnus Clara Swan just two hours before it was supposed to begin.

In the story, a spokeswoman for LePage is quoted as saying the governor had to cancel his appearance because he was tied up in meetings all day. This comes just a day after LePage issued an apology for storming out of a dedication ceremony at UMaine Farmington after being angered by the protests of two students holding up signs criticizing the governor.
