I went to Shaw's in Augusta to get some lunch today (JULY 19) and a display in the middle of the floor at the front of the store caught my eye. From a distance, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but as I got closer, it was confirmed. It was a huge display of HALLOWEEN CANDY IN JULY!

Now I love Halloween as much as the next guy, but this is going beyond ridiculous. I mean, we're still in the height of summer and they're already pushing Halloween?

Sorry Labor Day, you're screwed. We can't market anything to make money off you, so you need to get out of the way for the Halloween train!

And it also got me to thinking, who the hell buys Halloween candy in July and expects to have any left by August 1, let alone Oct. 31?

Come on! All of this candy is going to be eaten long before the leaves change, forcing people to buy more Halloween candy and... Oh, I get it now. It's an insidious plot by the candy industry to sell more candy and not a helpful way to allow people to prepare in advance.

Well-played Hershey's, well-played.

But still, can we at least enjoy some of our summer before you force fall upon us?

Let us know what you think!
