Starting Tuesday the intersection of Maine Avenue and Water Street in downtown Gardiner will be a four way stop.

According to Centralmaine.com, the  Maine DOT said the intersection doesn’t have enough traffic for a traffic signals. So, on a trial basis, the lights are being covered up. Stop signs are being put up and the crosswalks have been freshly painted.

The light will still be in place if the city of Gardiner wants to continue to use them in the future.

You can let the city of Gardiner know how it works for you. Residents can fill out a feedback form at www.gardinermaine.com.
