GAHS Broke It’s Rules for Governor LePage

Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston reportedly broke its own policy recently on the LePage family’s adoption of their new dog, Veto. 
According to the Lewiston Sun Journal the shelter acknowledges they did break their own rule and for what they hope is a good reason.  They had hoped the adoption would be good publicity for the shelter and the subject of adoption.

At the GAHS animals can only be adopted after they become publicly available and then only on a first-come, first-served basis. Any potential adopter must show up in person, fill out an application and pay the adoption fee.

A woman from Mexico, Maine had her heart set on adopting the same dog for emotional support. She was told he would be available as of Wednesday. She had gone so far as to take the day off from work so she could be at the shelter. But Tuesday she saw the dog she wanted and Governor in a photo.

The shelter is working with the woman to find her another dog to fit her needs.
