According to a report from WMTW, new information from court documents released today (June 25), show a possible motive for the murder of Somerset County Cpl. Eugene Cole.

The WMTW report said that according to court documents, John Williams, 29, who has been charged with Cole's April 28 murder, told investigators that Cole "interrupted him" as he was going into his stepmother's Norrdigewock home. The story said Cole asked Williams for his name and attempted to arrest him.

According to the WMTW story, Williams told investigators he shot Cole in the head, using the phrase "eliminated" to describe the killing.

The WMTW story said Williams told police he was mad at Cole for arresting his girlfriend, identified in the story as Kristina Pomerleau, on cocaine charges in an earlier incident, but Williams allegedly denied having a "vendetta" against Cole.

Williams, who was arrested on April 28,  has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. His trial is currently scheduled for May 2019.
