Police have arrested the husband of a Fairfield woman and charged him with murdering his wife, who had been reported missing on Sept. 9.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, State Police this morning took Luc Tieman, 32, into custody and charged him with murder about 10AM.

McCausland said Tieman was arrested by detectives along Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville , near where he stayed last night in a motel. According to McCausland, Tieman is charged in the death of his wife, Valerie Tieman, 34,whose body was found in a wooded area in Fairfield yesterday afternoon, behind the house she shared with her husband and his parents.   Tieman offered no resistance and was been taken to the Kennebec County Jail, McCausland said.

Tieman, who was reported missing by her parents on September 9th, was last seen on August 30th in the parking lot of the Walmart in Skowhegan.  According to Luc Tieman, she was in their Silverado pickup when he went into the store, but gone when he returned a short time later.  As of last week, Maine State Police detectives said they were continuing to review Walmart surveillance footage and interview friends and family.

An autopsy is now underway at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.
